About William Garden

Besides a Diploma in Counselling a Certificate of Achievement in Abnormal Psychology for Counsellors also a Certificate of Achievement in Addiction Practices. I have certificates of training in relationship counselling, working with couples, families, suicide, depression, grief and many others. Have had training in mediation. Prior to setting up my own practice I counselled for an Agency for four years, as well I have Extensive Life Experiences to draw upon.

I am also a qualified and experienced Facilitator. Prior to Counselling I was employed by a major New Zealand Company in the area of Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Group Facilitation, Team Building, Teaching Problem Solving Skills, Coaching. I am involved in Advocacy work with a special interest in Health and Grief processes. I am a past assessor for the NZBDQA.

Being an NZAC Registered Counsellor means I undertook an extensive interview process. Have demonstrated and shown evidence my training was at a recognised institute and that I hold the necessary qualifications. Have the experience regarding hands on client work. Update my skills regularly. Attend Supervision on a regular basis not less than once a month. Also Police checks have been carried out to ensure I have no convictions

The Counselling Process:

Sessions are usually one hour in length.

The aim is to ensure your confidentiality is respected at all times. There are instances where this guarantee cannot be given, for example where there could be harm to self or others. Confidentiality will be discussed prior to beginning the counselling sessions as will note taking.
